museum trip

PLANNING PAGE.

INTRODUCTION:
WHAT: went to the museum
WHO: Rooms 5,6,7,8. Parent helpers were Lisi and Harriet.
WHEN: Wednesday 12th September 2018.
WHERE: Auckland Museum, The Domain.
WHY: Our inquiry topic is about natural disasters, so went to see the volcano room.
HOW: bus.

PARAGRAPH 1: GOING THERE
  • Did the roll and go into groups - went to the hall. Our parent helpers were Lisi (Lily’s mum) and Harriet (Reigns nana). Mrs F talked to us. Got on the bus.
  • Morning tea, put our bags away, museum people told us the rules.

PARAGRAPH 2: GROUND FLOOR
  • Ancient stuff - century, clothes
  • Maori court - waka, treaty of waitangi, weapons, greenstone, taniwha, tattoo, Marae took a picture. Take our shoes off. Bone. taiaha.
  • Pasifika stuff  - Moana boat, Tonga sign photo, touching the water.

PARAGRAPH 3: FIRST FLOOR
  • Volcano room - shaking, screamed, laughed, rock statue, pumice, obsidian, basalt, lifting up the rocks, musical rocks hit with the hammer, fake volcano and ash cloud, Pompei lady, lava bomb, lava tree, lights flickered, watching the news,
  • Weird and wonderful - kids playing with bones, turtle shells, spiders, kiwi, coloured, cool camera thing, stairs with bean bags, soft animals, fake bats.
  • Dinosaur room - shark hanging from the roof, bones, fossils, eggs, cave, birds, bats. Took a class photo. Kiwi. wetas. Insects. Snakes.

PARAGRAPH 4: TOP FLOOR
  • War stuff - weapons, massive torpedo in a fake submarine, guns, gun noises playing, lots of names of people who died in the wars, aeroplanes - Spitfire and a Zero. prime ministers and presidents pictures. Hitler. World war 2 - benghazi, alamein, allies and axis. Badges that people wore or they earnt. Telephones that you could listen to people talking.
  • Butterfly room - coloured butterflies, took a photo of kids with the wings, getting hungry and tired.

PARAGRAPH 5: LUNCHTIME AND GOING HOME
  • Met down in the lobby, waited for the other classes, went to the field, ate our lunch, played games.
  • Went to the bus at 1.30pm.
  • Came back to school  - arrived at 2pm.

CONCLUSION: HOW I FELT
  • Exhausted but had a really good day.
  • My highlight was…..


WRITE HERE:
On a boiling hot day on wednesday rm 7,8,5,6 went to the museum because we are learning more about our inquiry topic which is natural disasters like earthquakes,floods,tornadoes,hurricanes and droughts. We went to the museum in a bus we had to have two huge buses, rm 7,8 in one bus together and the other bus with rm 5,6 together.

When we arrived at the museum we hopped off the bus and went to go sit down and have some lovely and yummy morning tea. As we had all our yummy lunch we all lined up in a lien to enter the museum for some fun and learning. A work man from the museum was telling us how to behave in the museum and takes care of anything from the museum and we had to listen good like never touch the glass ,don't run  and keep your hands.mouth and legs to yourself. We all lined up and enter the life of fun learning.

The first part of the museum we went to was the century where all the old things was like old dress what the ladys use to wear like maybe my nana but she could of dressed up in sweating pants and a t-shirt HAHA just a thought. I saw some watches but it was called pocket watch i think when you put it in your pocket and walk around with instead of walking with your watch i=on your hand but i think now watches wins it would just off like if the pocket watch will so yeah our ones win but i saw think that pocket watches are cool too.

The next one we went to was the maori court was where all the maori things are and maybe how they lived in there days.we saw a waka that was really huge and big it was the size of the ocean with nice brown colour around it. We went to a marera but before we had to go in the marae we had to take our shoes off to respect the maoris but saw have fun but no running right that will be rude right. After we saw all the maori thing we saw all the pacific things like the cool moana boat the real one from the movie cool right it was cool there was water but fake and i was having feel when i wasn't allowed i just did it even though it is fake saw feel cool and amazing. We also saw tonga sign a little church it was pretty cool and we it was tonga week last week.

After we all went the volcano room it was a little room with chairs and things and we all sat down on the floor with another school do know what one but it got dark and the tv pops up and turns on and it is the news telling us about steam coming up from the water near the volcano and telling us that something really wrong and bad is going to happen then suddenly something happens really bad FYI fake… it was a big shae BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! As the grounds shakes all i can hear is screaming but what is really funny the boys was screaming more than the boys did all the girls did was laugh it should be the other way around right. Then it started again shake shake shake and then the tv went on and told us about what just happen but i was thinking when everything was done it was not really scary it was just fun and funny also amazing/creative. After we went to the volcano room we went to look at things like rocks and we had to see if you can lift and i could lift  all them.

It was really cool learning a lot and loved it i learned so much about natural disaster it was amazing i was amazed about volcano room i had a great time.
